Easter Holiday Outdoor Activity Ideas Added 25th Mar 2011 by Rob Walker

The Easter Holidays are fast approaching, and the weather in the UK has improved dramatically over the last few weeks. So with this in mind, many of you are on the hunt for exciting outdoor activities for your children and families for the Easter break.

All around the UK, there are many great locations for child friendly outdoor activities, and I thought now would be a great time to recommend a few of my favourite family friendly activities, as well as the best locations to participate in them.

Try Surfing with your family

Surfing

If this warm weather holds for the holidays, a great activity to try is Surfing. Surfing is one of those outdoor activities that everyone has seen in the films, on the TV and even at beaches around England and Wales, but only a few families think of giving it a go. There are many great Surf Schools across the North Coast of Devon and Cornwall and in Wales. All you will need is your swimwear, a towel and some water shoes or old trainers, the Surfing School will provide everything else. And don't worry, you wont be hitting the biggest waves until your a few lessons in!

Try some gorge walking with your family

Coasteering and Gorge Walking

If your children are really adventurous, why not try some Coasteering in the South West of England, or some Gorge Walking in the Lake District. Both activities offer a mix of rock scrambling, jumping into and swimming through water, and the excitement of white-water! Equally as fun for the biggest kid for the family (Dad!) as well as the younger members, its guaranteed to be the highlight of your holiday or trip!

Rock Climbing

If you need an indoor, wet weather option, there are many great Indoor Climbing walls throughout the UK. Within a couple of hours, the climbing wall instructors will be able to teach the whole family everything you need to know, to keep yourselves safe while climbing indoors. If the kids enjoyed it (which I could almost guarantee!), you can reuse and improve the skills you've learnt during your first indoor climbing session, by visiting other indoor climbing walls around the country. Alternatively, there are literally hundreds of outdoor Rock Climbing locations and Providers around the country, so if the weathers nice, why not give make some calls and book some Rock Climbing.
