Welcome to Explore Highland

Explore Highland is the one-stop shop for everything related to paddling in the Scottish Highlands.

Run by Donald Macpherson and a team of highly qualified instructors, we offer a wide range of activities including bespoke services for all ages and paddler abilities.

What services do we offer?
> A wide range of paddling and personal skills courses including the BCU Performance Awards
> Guided adventure holidays in canoe, kayak and sea kayak throughout the Scottish Highlands
> Half & Full day adventures in canoes, kayaks, sea kayaks and Duckies (Fun Yaks)
> A unique hire and shuttle service for the likes of the Great Glen Canoe Trail and Spey Descent
> Safety cover, logistical and technical support for your next expedition or paddling event

To ensure both your safety and the quality of personal feedback throughout, we limit the group size for each instructor to a maximum of six paddlers (eight paddlers when paddling in tandem).

Fun Yakking

At Explore Highland we love to have fun both on and in the water. When paddling Duckies (Fun Yaks) this happened all so naturally. Our guided duckie river trips can be run almost anywhere in the Scottish Highlands on grade 1-2 rivers.

For groups with paddling experience, we are happy to up the challenge (and fun) by guiding you down grade 3 rapids.

On these trips we expect you to get a good splashing, wet feet/ legs and at best a complete immersion if you decide to capsize and soak your paddling buddy.

We run these trips as half day activities and are ideal for family groups or stag & hen parties and will supply you with all the appropriate paddling equipment.
