Here is your chance to fly like a bird! The London Gliding Club is just 20 miles from Greater London and is situated in the beautiful Chilterns on the edge of the town of Dunstable. Gliding is a very special way of flying. You’re in a real aeroplane, but need no engine. The sun is used as a powerhouse so that glider pilots can use its energy to stay airborne and to explore our beautiful countryside. You need to arrive at 5.45p.m. so that our group session can start at 6.00p.m. We will then have a group briefing. After the briefing you and your instructor will strap into a dual controlled glider and you will be launched into the sky by winch tow until you reach approximately 1,000ft. Admire the beautiful Chilterns countryside as you soar silently through the sky. With more than 10/12 minutes in the air there’s plenty of time to fly the glider yourself under the careful supervision of your instructor.

Indoor Climbing
This is a great opportunity to try an indoor climbing taster session in a small group. Indoor climbing walls recreate as realistically as possible the character of the crag environment, which you would find if you were climbing outdoors. Adaptations such as slabs, cracks, laybacks, overhangs, ribs flakes, pockets, jams and aretes are provided making the climbing room ideally suited to the beginner as well as there being enough of a challenge for the intermediate climber.

Land Yachting
We’ll be doing a Spice ‘Come and Try’ session as an introduction to land yachting. This is an ideal way to sample land yachting for the first time – you may simply wish to have a go, or perhaps you are thinking of taking up this exciting sport!!

If you're interested in hill walking, but want to learn more about the practical skills and techniques needed to venture safely out to the hills and mountains of Britain, or if you already have some of these skills but want to increase your level of competence, then this weekend is for you. Anyone who has been out walking on the hills will appreciate the problems that may arise if you are not prepared and this weekend is designed to make sure you're aware of what can happen and what to do about it. The majority of the weekend is practical so you will be out walking in the breathtaking scenery of the Welsh Hills. The countryside in which we’ll be walking, as well as being of outstanding beauty, is ideally suited to developing navigation skills as it is not always easy to follow the paths and rights of way.

Quads and Karts off Road Challenge
Calling all adrenalin junkies – we have 2 fantastic activities booked for you – Off Road Karting and Quad Biking!

If you find Go Karting a bit tame, then you’ve got to try Off Road Karting in these extreme rally style Rage Buggies! Once you are strapped into the driver's seat of one of these 650cc Buggies, you will see why this is seen as one of the ultimate adrenaline activities! The sheer speed is hair-raising, as you chase around the purpose built track with chicanes and corners that will put anyone’s driving skills to the test! Then experience the ultimate 4x4 on one of these awesome 350cc Quad Bikes, following our instructor along a woodland safari trail – over mogul hills, up inclines, down declines, over bridges and ditches, across fields and through some radical mud puddles! No previous experience necessary. Bring a complete change of clothes as you are likely to get very wet and muddy!

This is one of the most requested Spice events ever and it is BACK in the Spice Programme! Why not come and take a walk with us on top of a Boeing Stearman Biplane. You will take part in display training, with you as the wing walker, on top of the Biplane with you smiling and waving to your friends below.
After a full safety brief and training session you will be strapped into the 5 point safety harness on top of the Boeing Stearman Biplane. You will then be taken skywards on an aerial adventure of a lifetime lasting approximately 10 minutes. You will take part in a display practice including fly pasts at various angles of bank and finish with a zoom climb from 135 mph. After landing you will receive a certificate confirming you are a trained wing walker.
