Skern Lodge has an assault course that will flex your muscles and test your teamwork abilities.

Make your way through a series of connected obstacles including the wall, rope bridges, balance beams and a zip wire.

Although physically testing, the assault course can be completed by most people through determination and some tried and tested team work techniques to navigate through the trickier parts.

Coastal Traversing is a modern name for Coastal Exploring. This is a grade up from walking as it involves climbing and scrambling around sea cliffs at low tide.

The coast line around Skern Lodge is dramatic and you will find challenging cliffs, boulders and rock pools to traverse and explore.

Pool

Learn the basic skills needed and practice in our outdoor heated swimming pool. You can also join in some fun kayak games.

Closed Cockpit

Closed cockpit kayaks are single person, fast moving crafts. We take groups out and on to the local River Torridge which is quite a sheltered estuary. You will have had an introduction beforehand and will have all the relevant safety equipment. You can get some speed up moving with the tide.

Sit-on-tops

Similar to the single kayaks, except that there is room for two people and you sit on top of the kayak rather than in it. Some people prefer these models as they are easier to climb back into if you fall off.

Float or swim? It’s up to you…….
Whether you cruise down the river in triumph or end up ignominiously bobbing along in the water, it is down to your ability as a team to build and float the perfect raft.

Our instructors will provide you with the materials, maybe show you a few knots along the way, and then it is over to you.

Devon and Cornwall have been associated with the sport of surfing since the late 1960's and the North Devon coast is now said to be one of the best places in the country to surf. A combination of long sandy beaches and the warm Gulf stream that passes close by provides an ideal environment for surfing.

We offer surf lessons using soft surfboards. These are ideal for beginner and intermediate surfers, offering a stable platform on which to master the skill.

Our coaches will guide you through the learning process to enable you to get the most from your surfing experience.
