Description of Boots N Paddles

We are a mobile outdoor adventure activity company with bases in Inverness and Aviemore, in the Highlands of Scotland. We're privileged to be in a part of the country with endless opportunities for adventure on our doorstep, and we want to share them with you.

We offer skills courses, coaching, canoe holidays and fun days out in outdoor pursuits including archery, sea kayaking, open Canoeing, mountain biking, hill walking, summer and winter Mountaineering, climbing, abseiling, Gorge Walking, canyoning and WoW Balling.

We cater for stag and hen parties, can support fund-raising or sporting events, can organise mini Scottish Highland Games for you or a wildlife holiday.

We're also the largest canoe and sea kayak hire operator in the Highlands, offering a shuttle service to just about anywhere you want to go.

With our versatile Canadian open-canoes we can tailor an activity session to suit your requirements be it a birthday treat with lots of games (we can guarantee some ’unintentional’ swimming during the games!), a tranquil loch trip, a gentle paddle down an easy river or a bouncy experience on a bigger river. Perfect for all occasions, canoes are also an excellent way to get closer to the unique wildlife in the area.

Min-Age: 4 years (9 if unaccompanied)

Mountaineering

We offer a one day Winter Skills Preparation Course for those wishing to learn some of the basic movement and planning skills necessary for a day out on the mountains in winter. For two day courses covering a full range of winter techniques and looking more in depth at a wider range of topics, book our Intermediate course at the same time. Gorge Walking

Gorge Walking: suitable for younger children and families, our gorge walking venues will get you laughing and wet without too much technical difficulty or specialist clothing needed. All difficulties can be avoided if required. We also offer Gorge Swimming: A more committing version of gorge walking with wetsuits, bouyancy aids and helmets provided. You may find yourself fighting your way upstream against the flow, clambering up small waterfalls, swimming through calmer sections and jumping into deep pools.

A hugely popular choice with both clients and instructors and a favourite hangover cure on stag weekends!

Exploring Highland Rivers by Canoe

The Inner Moray Firth area of the Scottish Highlands is a true mecca for open canoeing. Within 30 miles of Inverness there are five fantastic canoe touring rivers (Spey, Ness, Conon, Beauly and Findhorn) and a wealth of stunning inland lochs to explore (including Loch Ness).

On this 6-night holiday with Boots N Paddles you will be based in comfortable 3-star hotel accommodation in the gorgeous historic village of Beauly, 15 miles west of Inverness.

Each morning your highly experienced local canoe guide will collect you from your hotel and transport you to one of these magical waterways to go on a journey through the heart of the Highlands. Mini-descent of the River Spey by canoe

A 3-day journey down the majestic River Spey from Aviemore to the sea at Spey Bay.

One of the 'Big 4' rivers that is a must for the touring canoeist in Scotland, and which normally provides a fast current, great scenery and some interesting rapids. To paddle from Newtonmore to Spey Bay can take up to 5 days depending on the fitness, age, size of the group, weather and the water levels. Other popular start points for a shorter journey might be Kincraig or Aviemore.
If you lack experience of whitewater paddling but would love to give it a go why not join one of our guided trips on the Spey. See our website for dates.
